bmli-shield-screenUnder the leadership of Jesse Hendrix, Assistant Director, the Black Male Leadership Initiative (BMLI) formed.  It is the mission of the BMLI to equip and empower black males at Rice University to create and maintain a a unified community that supports participants in setting a new standard for our community through three core pillars:

  1. Leadership development:  Developing young black men that have the confidence, skills, and vision to meet and overcome the challenges of the 21st century.
  2. Mentorship:  Surrounding students with mentors that epitomize positive self-image and self-esteem and are intentional about supporting students in fulfilling the vision they have for themselves.
  3. Service to others:  Engaging students in community service initiatives that directly impact and influence the next generation of students and reinforcing the value of life long reciprocity.
